The Virtual Summer Skills Camp is designed to give you a distinct advantage when starting college or university. Not only helping you to prepare for College life but giving you an edge when finding the right job to support you while you study. If you are seeking a job this Virtual Summer Skills Camp will give you the skills to search for the right role, apply for that position and nail the interview.

Free Training and Certified Qualifications

Participants to this Skills Camp will earn a Level 1 qualification in Employability and Professional Development from Open Awards. In addition, they can also study for:

How does the course work?

The Virtual Skills Camp is made up of 6 short online courses that are chosen why you to help benefit your progression and address gaps in your knowledge.
We have access to a library of over 100 short courses, meaning that you can pick the ones most relevent to you. Options include:

  • Advanced CV writing
  • Advanced job interview skills
  • Personal resilience
  • Managing stress
  • Supporting the wellbeing of others (home and workplace variants)
  • Introduction to mentoring
  • Introduction to coaching 
  • Leadership skills revisited
  • Management skills revisited
  • Performance management 
  • Many others also available…

All of these courses are delivered online 24/7 – courses are pre-recorded in 10-15 minute bite sized chunks

Weekly Job Seeking Skills Sessions

All participants are supported by a qualified mentor, delivering 4 weekly seminars. This practical support helps you to discuss any problems and talk through decisions, applications and prepare for interviews. While also taking part in some group work to put your new skills into practice.

Are you unsure what career path you want to take? We can help. Our partners at the National Careers Service will provide a free one to one meeting where they will advise you on your options and help you choose the right career direction for you.

Eligibility

To be eligible you need to:

  1. Aged 16-20 (over 19 to qualify for NCS support)
  2. Be unemployed
  3. Live in Berkshire
  4. Have the right to live and work in the UK

Documentation

As part of the registration process we will need to check some documents, these are:

  • Birth Certificate or passport
  • Proof of Address such as a bank statement or a mobile phone bill (in your name, not your parents)
