Welcome to Skills For Progress

Helping people progress into or in employment

Quality ~ Service ~ Expertise

If you are a manager or a leader you will recognise the way you work with your staff needs to change due to the impact of the pandemic. Staff are now working at home, or are in changed workplaces and the way managers interact with their team is very different. For the manager ensuring that you know how to maintain performance is vital as you deal with managing teams in new ways. That is where our leadership and management portal can help you. Leadership 9.0 is a training suite designed to help you to reskill in this post-pandemic world.

For those who find themselves unemployed, at risk of redundancy or seeking a new job, then Skills for Progress is for you. We exist to help you gain the skills you need to progress in work. On this site you can access skills assessments, short courses, employment qualifications or indeed some funded training.

Diagnostic Assessment and Report

We believe in giving people the right training at the right time to ensure they get the very most from their training, therefore we do not shoe-horn people into courses that they do not need.

Therefore we offer a free diagnostic assessment of the skills that will help people to get a job or progress their career.

The series of questions help people to identify skills gaps and which short courses are most relevant to help them progress in employment. This allows people to work with us 24-hours a day to assess their developmental needs and receive a tailored report containing recommendations and an action plan.

The report contains recommendations for which short courses would be most relevant.

Please note this process is slightly different for European Social Fund and DWP funded programmes, which include funding for additional support.

Tailored Training Solutions

Based on the results from the diagnostic assessment, clients are able to access the short courses that will most help them to progress in or into employment. Courses are device friendly and can be accessed provided they have internet connection.

Short courses

Short courses to teach the fundamental skills required for the topic. Covers 36 different employability and professional development topics, each confirmed with a quiz.

Refresher short courses

For those who have been in a job for a while and have found themselves redundant or unemployed, these courses are aimed at dusting off CVs and helping refresh skills to get people back into work as soon as possible. We have put together a collection of short courses aimed at covering the key points and delving into each topic a bit more deeply to give your job hunt the edge over others. For example, the CV course at this levels covers not only the basic must do’s covered on the standard course, but also goes into layout techniques and styles that help to make a CV stand out.

These courses tend to be two or three 10-15 minute videos with accompanying handbooks. Learning is again tested through an online quiz.

Advanced Job Seeking

This exclusive set of over 20 topics is designed for those who can do not need refreshers, they just need the advanced tips to make their CV or job application stand out, practice potential interview questions or help their unique selling point get across to show potential employers they are perfect for the role. Content starts with a quiz to confirm learning and then moves onto videos containing hints, tips and practice interview questions.
